In a bid to keep Blouberg clean and raise awareness to communities about cleanliness and healthy environment, Her Worship the Mayor of Blouberg Local Municipality Cllr Maria Thamaga today(September 25, 2024), led a team of volunteers to Witten Village in Ward 19 on a cleaning campaign that was mainly focused on litter picking. The municipality through Community Services organised this campaign as part of the broader National clean-up and Arbor month campaign. The campaign was aimed at raising awareness to communities about environment and waste management and get people thinking about changing their behavior, bring about sense of responsibility to keep their homes and common ereas safe and clean. Mayor Thamaga indicated that the clean up campaign is part of the municipality's efforts of implementing measures that will change the face of villages at towns. The Mayor further called on members of the public and businesses to comply with waste management practices and refrain from littering as a healthy environment is every one's responsibility. The Mayor thanked all the volunteers; councillors, officials and EPWP workers who came all out and get their hands dirty to assist create cleaner and healthy spaces for the community.
